When I buy my backpacking boots, I "go ugly, early".Up: Easiest high top hiking boots I have ever slipped my feet into. It's like putting on a ski boot. 2 years ago, I hiked about 200 miles in my Vasque Breezes. Loved them, but then Vasque "dumbed down" the Breeze. Salomon was a Dark Horse candidate that has now become a favorite. Slightly lighter than my old Breezes and better toe box fit and good foundation support. A blessing on the rockier trails and pavement.Down:Putting on the the speed lacing works well. Getting the laces out of the bottom hook was absolutely hateful for the first 3 months. I have figured out the proper body English and use of force and everything seems to work well now.Hmmmm...A very different top of the boot design where it wraps around your leg over the ankle. The Breeze was a solid horizontal wrap and felt very secure. This is a more contoured wrap that is comfortable and seems to provide adequate for the trails I am hiking while carrying a 20 lb pack. Time will tell.

Aber der Abrollkomfort ist einfach nicht da, die Fersen sind hart. Für Gebirge bestimmt gut. Ich habe empfindliche Füße und nach 4 km tat alles weh. Habe die Schuhe zurück geschickt.

These are the first boots where I don't feel my feet hurting after a full day. Waterproofing is bulletproof. They're light. And for durability, they're surprisingly well. Obviously I have some rubber coming off and some of the outside material peeling but any other boot with the same specs would be in pieces by now. It's not a 6 pound leather boot that will last, it's a comfy boot you may have to buy a few times. But compared to other boots in this role. Id say they're much more durable.

Echt schade Salomon...!!!

As an amputee LBK I need a stiff and lightweight shoe that will keep me going all day long. Salomon Quest 4 is the ticket for me. I have other shoes that work well also but you can't beat the weight of the Quest 4.

THESE ARE GREAT BOOTS FOR ABOUT A MONTH AND THEN....... I WILL TRY ANOTHER PAIR SINCE IT HAS BEEN A FEW YEARS AND SALOMON HOPEFULLY HAS CORRECTED THE PROBLEM

Der eine Schuh läuft bei 4cm Wassertiefe voll, der andere wird ordentlich feucht.Für einen nicht-wasserdichten Wanderschuh (nach dem Einlaufen): 5 SterneFür einen wasserdichten Wanderschuh: 1 SternFür das Einlaufen: 1 Stern(Kleiner Trost: Auch andere Premium-Marken schaffen es nicht, einen dauerhaft wasserdichten Membranstiefel herzustellen.)

My last pair were Quests and the rubber peeled away from the toe sooner than what I thought. I went ahead and replaced them with the newer Quest 4. Out of the box, they were exceptionally stiff from toe-to-heel. As an offtrail hiker, this meant it was constant. This did not go away and caused pain on pretty much every step on inclines. None of my other Salomon boots caused this at all. The biggest deal breaker was the rubber along the front of the foot coming away from the shoe. I owned them for ~8-10 months and it started happening during this time. And this was only over ~10 short trips. A lot of good things about these boots, but they're let down by foot pain and especially bad glue.

It just doesn't get any better. I only changed the laces to black to be a little more subdued. I would buy another pair when it's time to replace them.

My pair has worn through in 6 month with normal use. I have about 300 miles on them. Dont believe this statement in the product description. "Contagrip® TD rubber outsoles with deep, aggressive lugs provide extended durability and maximum traction on mixed terrain"

I've tried on every brand of hiking/workers boot out there and Salomon has always gave me the best support, comfort, and durability. My feet are so comfortable and don't fatigue when I wear Quest 4D for work with 2@ 4 hour periods on my feet Monday-Friday. Through 2.5 years the material of the shoe will start to separate with aggressive use and 3.5 years for the tread to bald with aggressive use.

Rated 1 out of 5 by El Jefe from Ankle Pad Rubbing I had these and broke them in well over 20hrs normal walking and 20 hrs hiking. When it was time to go they performed and then the ankle padding become bothersome on our first day of 3. The second day I was getting an ankle burn so I loosened them as much as possible. Then on the third day I had to switch out because of the discomfort. I'm a Solomon fan, however these didn't work out. Great boot over all and maybe a fluke on my pair. I did buy the mid version of these and they too work great. I would really like a hightop for support and keeping stuff out of my shoe. Good Luck

Outside of being a little weighty, they are great hiking boots or every day footware for the outdoorsy individual. I’ve exposed these boots to all types of weather, hiking and daily use and abuse. These take a little to break in but usually feel great after a week. Like all boots, they have their typical wear areas, usually where they bend the most, but have yet to have a pair leak water. I had one manufacturers issue with my second pair and Salomon was quick to respond to the issue. Do I love these boots?…yes! I will continue to purchase these as long as the quality and support remain consistently high.

As always, I procrastinated and didn’t order them until it was too late to break them in. The guy I went with bought a $600 pair of Crispies and broke them in for months before the trip. Long story short, he had moleskin all over his feet and I never got a single hot spot. Not one. Not even a rub. I’m writing this review a year and a half later. These things are still a joy to wear and they’re still waterproof. When they die, I’ll be getting another pair. I’m not even going to shop other boots. Great job Salomon!

I glued it and kept moving. The sole pulled away a second time so I contacted customer service. Had an excellent experience with them. I filled out the online forms and sent the required pictures. The next morning a had a follow up mail telling me that I needed to send some additional pictures. This was due to my own fault, didn’t follow directions. Anyway, 24 hours later warranty was approved and a voucher for new boots was in my inbox. Not only are these boots comfortable but this company’s customer service department was one of the most pleasant, easy experiences I’ve had. Kudos to you Salomon!
