Docking hints from KSP

• Make sure all spacecraft have adequate RCS (monoprop) fuel when designing a docking mechanism. You may spend a lot of time attempting to dock, and nothing is more irritating than running out of monoprop while you’re less than 1000 kilometers from your destination.
• Make sure your destination has the same inclination as you; this will make docking and rendezvous much simpler. To alter your inclination in respect to the goal, use the ascending and descending nodes.

Use your H key to go forward, N to go backward, J to go left, L to go right, I to go down, and K to go up in RCS.
• Download MechJeb or Kerbal Engineer if you need additional assistance. They have excellent docking stats, and MechJeb even includes a rendezvous module that can considerably assist you in approaching the target you wish to dock with.
