JOB PURPOSE

To work in partnership with theExecutive Headteacher, Head of School, staff, LGB Members, pupils and parentsto ensure the smooth running of the class and to ensure that all pupils makegood progress from their various starting points.

OBJECTIVES

1. Topromote high expectations and high standards of attainment, achievement andbehaviour at all times

2. Tofoster a love of learning in a safe, secure and stimulating environment

3. Toprovide support professionally and pastorally to staff and children

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

To be responsible for a mixed ageclass of children and to take a role in curriculum leadership throughout theschool. To report directly to the Head of School/Executive Headteacher.

KEY TASKS Teacher

§ Preparelessons in accordance with the schools' agreed curriculum and teaching andlearning policies

§ Promotehigh standards and maintain high expectations of all children at all times

§ Ensurethat effective behaviour management techniques are established, according tothe school’s relevant policies

§ Bean excellent classroom practitioner

§ Ensurea stimulating, safe and challenging indoor and outdoor learning environment

§ Carryout regular formative and summative assessments of pupils, in line with theschool’s assessment policy

§ Maintainup to date records of children’s attainment and progress, reporting regularlyto parents, leaders and governors in accordance with the school’s policies

§ Setchallenging annual targets for all children and monitor them on a regularbasis, ensuring that effective intervention is put in place and seeking helpfrom relevant colleagues when required

§ Liaisewith the SENDCO to ensure children with SEND have appropriate support; to writeand monitor education plans in partnership with the SENDCO

§ Beaware of safeguarding issues and report any concerns to the DesignatedSafeguarding Lead

§ Buildappropriate relationships with the children based on mutual respect andunderstanding and foster good relationships with their parents and carers

Leadership and Management

§ Contributeto staff meetings, twilight staff training sessions and INSET days as required

§ Haveoversight of the curriculum, its planning, implementation and evaluation,ensuring a balance of curriculum, through long-term planning and oversight ofweekly plans

§ Leadareas of learning to be agreed upon appointment.

§ Ensurethe areas of learning are adequately resourced and that high standards ofattainment and progress are achieved by all pupils in school

§ Attendany relevant courses and report back to staff

§ Promotea positive image of the school internally and externally at all times

§ Encouragehigh staff morale and high expectations for the children

§ Assistin promoting and reviewing the vision and aims of the school

§ Assistin ensuring that school policies, organisation and administration are executedefficiently

§ Assistin maintaining good behaviour within the school and encouraging respect for allpupils and their families

§ Whennecessary, liaise with external professional agencies and the wider community

§ Assistin caring for the school's external and internal environment, ensuring that theclassroom presents a welcoming, organised and aesthetically pleasing appearance

§ Takepart in such discussions and meetings necessary to support a broad, balancedand relevant curriculum for our children

Duties will be carried out under the direction of the Headof School/Executive Headteacher.
