Assemble Tiramisu

Dip the ladyfinger biscuits into the strawberry puree for about 3 seconds on each side. Do not oversoak the ladyfingers. Otherwise, your tiramisu will turn out too soggy. You want your Savoiardi biscuits to absorb enough strawberry liquid to make them moist and give them flavor.

Variations to Strawberry Tiramisu

There are several variations to the traditional strawberry tiramisu recipe that you can try to add some variety and experiment with different flavors. Here are a few ideas:

  1. Chocolate strawberry tiramisu: Add a layer of chocolate ganache or cocoa powder to the mascarpone mixture for a rich chocolate flavor that complements the sweetness of the strawberries.
  2. Lemon strawberry tiramisu: Add some lemon zest and juice to the mascarpone mixture for a tangy and refreshing twist on the classic recipe.
  3. Raspberry strawberry tiramisu: Use raspberries instead of strawberries, or mix them together for a combination of flavors.
  4. Mango strawberry tiramisu: Replace the strawberries with fresh mango or add a layer of mango puree to the mascarpone mixture for a tropical twist.
  5. Nutella strawberry tiramisu: Spread a layer of Nutella between the ladyfingers and the mascarpone mixture for a delicious chocolate-hazelnut flavor that pairs well with the strawberries.
  6. Matcha strawberry tiramisu: Add some matcha powder to the mascarpone mixture for a unique and earthy flavor that complements the sweetness of the strawberries.
  7. Balsamic strawberry tiramisu: Drizzle some balsamic vinegar over the strawberries before assembling the tiramisu for a sweet and tangy flavor that pairs well with the creamy mascarpone mixture.

These are just a few ideas to get you started, but you can get creative and experiment with different flavors to create your own unique variations of strawberry tiramisu.

How to Store Strawberry Tiramisu Recipe

  • Store tiramisu in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
  • I don’t recommend freezing this dessert as the texture will change when defrosted.

Top tips

  • Use fresh, ripe strawberries: The flavor of the strawberries is a key component of this dessert, so make sure to use fresh, ripe strawberries for the best flavor.
  • Chill the mixing bowl and beaters: When making the mascarpone mixture, chill the mixing bowl and beaters in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before using. This will help the whipped cream to whip up faster and hold its shape better.
  • Dip the ladyfingers or sponge cake quickly: When dipping it into the strawberry sauce, do it quickly so they don't become too soggy. A quick dip is enough to add flavor and moisture to the ladyfingers.
  • Don't overmix the mascarpone mixture: Overmixing the final mascarpone and whipped cream mixture can cause it to lose fluffiness and become runny, making the tiramisu too soft and lose its structure. Mix just until the ingredients are combined and smooth.
  • Let it chill for at least 6 hours: The longer the tiramisu chills in the refrigerator, the better it will taste. It's best to let it chill for at least 6 hours, or even overnight if possible, to allow the flavors to meld together and the texture to set.

Following these tips, you can create a delicious and impressive strawberry tiramisu that your guests will love!

FAQs

Can I make Strawberry Tiramisu Ahead of Time?

Yes, you can definitely make strawberry tiramisu ahead of time. In fact, it's a great dessert to prepare in advance for a party or special occasion. Making it ahead will also give the flavors time to meld together and make the dessert even more delicious.

Can I substitute cream cheese for mascarpone in tiramisu?

I personally do not recommend it as it changes the texture and flavor, but you can. While there are no 1-to-1 substitutions that give the precise taste and texture to your tiramisu that mascarpone does.

Is Tiramisu better the longer it sits?

Yes! This helps all the flavors soak into the biscuits and the cream mixture to set. It's best to make strawberry tiramisu no more than 24 hours in advance to ensure that the ladyfingers do not become too soggy. Additionally, remember that the longer the tiramisu sits, the softer the texture will become.

Can I use frozen strawberries instead of fresh ones?

Yes, you can use frozen strawberries for the strawberry sauce, but remember that they will be softer than fresh strawberries once thawed. Make sure to thaw them completely before using them in the recipe, and drain any excess liquid to prevent the tiramisu from becoming too watery. I do not recommend adding frozen strawberries to the inside layers or on top of the tiramisu.
